Terms of Service

Service: NovaTutor AI Educational Assistant • Operator: Lite Charms (Pty) Ltd • Effective: October 2026

            Educational Socratic Mission: NovaTutor is an AI study companion designed strictly for South African High School IT learners (Grades 10–12, DBE CAPS & IEB). NovaTutor guides learners through Socratic questioning and line-level error hints; it will never provide complete homework solutions or live exam answers.
        

1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing or using NovaTutor via Discord, WhatsApp, or web endpoints, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you are under 18, your parent, legal guardian, or educator must review and consent to these terms pursuant to POPIA Section 35.

2. Academic Integrity and Socratic Pedagogy

Scaffolded Learning: The bot provides diagnostic hints, conceptual explanations, trace table drills, and rubric alignment.
No Cheating: Users may not use NovaTutor to complete live tests, formal assessments, or breach DBE/IEB academic honesty codes.

3. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree not to:

Attempt prompt injection, reverse engineering, or jailbreak attacks.
Post abusive, harassing, hateful, or explicit material in any channel where the bot operates.
Spam or overwhelm the Service with automated requests.

4. Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of your original code submissions. Lite Charms retains all rights to NovaTutor's curriculum synthesis, prompts, and branding. Official CAPS/IEB curriculum frameworks remain the copyright of their respective examination bodies.

5. AI Processing and Service Disclaimers

Inference is conducted via enterprise Azure AI Foundry under strict zero-data retention agreements. The Service is provided "as-is" for revision support and does not guarantee specific examination scores.

6. Termination and Data Deletion

You may permanently erase your data at any time by issuing the /deletedata or /optout command in chat.

7. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
