Privacy Guarantee: We do NOT sell, lease, or monetize personal information. Data is gathered strictly to deliver Socratic tutoring, compile diagnostic misconception reports, and benchmark high school cohort mastery.
1. Information We Collect
- Account Identifiers: Discord User ID or pseudonymized WhatsApp phone number.
- Academic Profile: Grade (10–12), Curriculum (DBE CAPS / IEB), Programming Language (Java, Delphi, Python), School Name, and Province (optional for cohort percentiles).
- Learning Analytics: Practice question scores, diagnostic misconception tags, and short-term tutoring dialogue turns.
2. Processing of Children's Information (POPIA Section 35)
Learners in Grades 10–12 are frequently under the age of 18. In accordance with Section 35 of the Protection of Personal Information Act, processing is carried out with competent parental or guardian consent and solely to realize the learner's educational rights.
3. AI Infrastructure and Non-Training Commitment
NovaTutor uses enterprise Microsoft Azure AI Foundry inference with DeepSeek models. All queries are stateless and strictly governed by enterprise zero-data-retention agreements. Your code and questions are NEVER used to train public AI models.
4. Discord Developer Policy Compliance
- NovaTutor only processes messages directed to it via Direct Messages, thread interactions, or explicit @mentions.
- The bot does not index or store unrelated conversations in servers where it is present.
5. Your Statutory Rights (POPIA Section 24)

/mydata in chat to view your complete learner profile and diagnostic scores.
- Audit: Send
/myconsent to review your timestamped consent records.
- Erasure / Opt-Out: Send
/deletedata or /optout in chat to immediately and permanently delete your profile, past assessments, and conversation logs.
